Live Audio/ Recording Apprentice

Summary
The Live Audio/ Recording Apprentice, under the supervision of the Head of Live Audio/ Recording, executes the live sound reinforcement for Brevard Music Center Orchestral Events, Janiec Opera Company productions, Orchestra and Chamber Events, Special Events and Special Projects. The Live Audio/ Recording Apprentice works on a core crew with added members as needed per show. They are also responsible for the maintenance of the equipment and supplies as directed. A basic knowledge of/ willingness to learn about sound and audio is required. Holistic effective communication and dissemination of information is essential to the successful execution of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a high standard in all areas of the Live Audio and Recording department -- both a professional appearance and a high technical standard.
- Assist in all operations of the Live Audio/ Recording department, as assigned.
- Work under Live Audio/Recording Head to complete all assigned projects.
- Serve on run crews as required.
- Update inventory as assigned.
- Perform recording duties for 6 performance venues and over 80 performances, as assigned.
- Attend all load-ins and outs.
- Be prepared to assist other crews/departments at the end of season strike until dismissed by Production Management.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Supervised by the Head of Live Sound/Recording Department and the Director of Production.

- Strong communication skills
- Highly motivated.

- Willingness to take ownership of your position and not blame other staff members or outside circumstances for your degree of success on individual tasks and on your position as a whole.
- Able to take instruction and feedback from supervisors and use it to improve your job performance.
- Understanding of channels of communication and the importance of clear and open communication.
- Maintain calm under pressure and receive/ intake information from multiple sources that you quickly prioritize and relay to the Technical Director or Director of Production/ act upon if deemed appropriate.
- Above all, must possess a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and ability to work well in a team dynamic.
Requirements
- Complete satisfactory background check
- Must have valid state driver's license and possess a clean driving record
Compensation

Brevard Music Center is a summer institute and festival.
